You might remember that we posted about the new MWRA wind turbine a few months ago. I pass by this wind turbine everyday and noticed that it is non-operational on most days, even when the  flag on the Schrafft’s building just across the river in Charlestown was going crazy.

After a couple of weeks of wondering, I started looking for answers.

It turns out that the foundation of the turbine is flawed. It has sunk 2”since the beginning of operations in October. Possible causes could be vibrations from sudden shutdowns due to high winds and soil conditions.   Repair efforts are underway to get the turbine up and running again.
