One of our current jobs is a kitchen and bathroom remodel in South Boston. This loft unit is in a converted warehouse, and the rich dark cabinetry forms a nice contrast with the brick wall on the opposite side of the room.

The previous kitchen had a dark granite counter that was not a good fit with the new cabinets, but the homeowner wanted to see if we could reuse / salvage it. Our client suggested repurposing the slab and extending the depth of the sills to allow for window “seats” or planter boxes. The old granite slab was cut into smaller slabs to extend the window sills, thereby adding an accent to the character of the old brick wall.
