In about a half day, our house lift subcontractor had the structure leveled and ready for foundation repairs and shoring. This single family home on Prospect Hill was constructed about 120 years ago, and is now on the straight and narrow for it’s next 120 years.
“Cribbing stacks” were located at key lift points to lift the house approximately 3″ back to level. Our framers will now place new tapering pressure treated sill boards, creating a long continuous “shim” around 3 sides of the house between the masonry foundation and the old existing 8″ x 8″ sill beam. This also presents an opportunity to install a capillary break at these 3 sides to further protect the wood frame from moisture that naturally wicks out of the ground and into the masonry.
